But how could we discern if he is truthful either? Several of his comments sound sketch. Such as, I know US needs to always be in it to protect the US interest but containing Russia to Russia is important to Europe. The "reckless expansion of NATO..." is up to NATO. They invaded on Crimea in 2014 and US coming in to prepare Ukraine, I see as keeping Russia from expanding. He then calls Ukrainians Neo-Nazi's. That reeks of propaganda. Putin is destroying Ukraine, scorched earth. I think Ukraine could have handled 2014 better, with more inclusivity back from then on but, what do we really know was their worst/best option? How could they know then that it would lead to this annihilation from Putin today. This statesman is Putin's statesman "Hungary's principled position..."?? He talks about the US putting Europe into a "suicidal position" -- only if Russia then decides to KILL them all in all the various economic and physical territorial bombardments. Ok, then, Russia just stop trying to make your entire business plan be to invade one little Ukraine and get back to your worldwide agenda for your oligarchs. We aren't angels and do make egregious mistakes. But, Russia's plan is NOT better and how do we make the case for democracies to stand? Russia is the "negative scenario". He keeps referring to fascist countries as victims. Then he talks about "principles of equality, mutual respect, consensus, mutual compromise"? Putin? Russia's actions? I can't justify listening to any more of it. I'll take my ignorant ass outta here.

Dear privileged white American Woman ....LOL !! Seriously, thanks for taking this on, Jeanette. There is a LOT here, but I'll try to respond. First, the idea that Ukraine has any of the attributes of a democracy seems (your term) sketchy to me. The present unelected regime came to power as a result of a violent coup in 2014. Zelensky has shut down all opposition press, banned the Russian language, banned the Orthodox Church, and refused to stand for re-election when his term was up. Democracy? The ONLY nationwide election in the very short history (28 yerars) of an independent Ukraine was overthrown in a violent coup engineered by Victoria Nuland (she BRAGGED about it) with about 5 billion in US dollars. Opponents of the Neo-Nazi driven coup were burned alive and assassinated. There was no "invasion" of Crimea. Because the Russian fleet's home port has always been and still is Sevastopol, by treaty arrangement there were about 25,000 Russian troops IN Crimea when the citizens (by far mostly Russian) overwhelmingly voted to join the Russian Federation. Don't you believe in self-determination? No troops "invaded" Crimea. There ARE in fact large contingents of actual Neo-Nazis in western Ukraine where their national hero was a Nazi collaborator responsible to the murder of some thousands of Jews. I'm sure you've heard of the Azov Batallion ... and others. Certainly not EVERY Ukrainian is a Nazi, but they have been a powerful influene in the military AND in pressuring Zelensky to fight when he could easily have negotiated a treaty in 2022 that would have left the Donbass in Ukraine. That's over now. Neither Donbass nor Crimea will be returning. I don't see Russia as an expansionist empire. They have ZERO missiles planted on our borders pointed at Washington DC. We have literally surrounded Russia with nukes pointed right AT them. There is zero evidence Russia wants anything but a fair deal for the Donbas republics. They have NOWHERE near enough troops to invade even western Ukraine, much less the rest of Europe. That's literal nonsense. How many military bases and stations does Russia have around the world? Wikipedia says 21. The US is widely acknowledged to have close to 800. If Russia is expansionist, they have.a LONG way to catch us with us.
Anyway, you're evidently "all in" on the Ukraine proxy-war. I can certainly accept that. But I am 100% opposed.
Lavrov is exaclty right that the US has put Europe in a suicidal position. We have nuclear missiles all over Europe as do our NATO allies. Russia has a public "no first strike" policy -- defensive only. We do not. Zelensky is now pressuring Britain and the US to let them fly missiles INTO Russia proper to bomb their people. This raises the probabilities of an expanded conflict/ If we station f-16s in Poland or elsewhere with which to launch strikes into Russia, then Russia will be very much entitled (under international law) to strike those bases. This can lead to world war and this is what Russia means when it says the US has put Europe in a suicidal position.
There's a lot more to be said. NATO is not NATO. NATO is an arm of US expansionist policy. The 12 founding members of the alliance were Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Notice that the USA is NOT a European country. NATO now has 32 member states pushed right up to the Russian border with ONE exception; Ukraine. Well, there you have it. Russia has publicly warned for over 40 years now that an expansion to Ukraine would be a red line. They've said so again and again. The difference between Russia's leaders and our leaders is that the Russians don't lie.
I'd say Lavrov told the truth.
Thanks again for at least watching the video and expecially for commenting !!
Thanks for the enlightenment on so many of the sketch. Although, I still find it hard to believe that Putin isn’t strategically deceptive and that his Russia is harmless in the world. He has done tremendous damage here in the US via cyber-bot propaganda throughout, as the US escalated its obsession with social media in recent years. Yes US policy is sketch too, but here we are, fighting fascism cancer within.
And your last sentence is, in my view, the essential matter; the existential danger to America is the cancer that infests its body politic. Thanks again for chiming in, Jeanette.

Refreshing listening to a statesman rather than a politician!
Exactly.
