It was in part my own damn fault and in part an slightly obtuse methodology on the part of Substack. One is unable, moreover, to reset ALL the posts to open comments and replies at one time. I've done it, I think; but had to laboriously go back through them all; gave me a headache. But its fixed now. Egad ....
