Hadn't heard of him before. Sounds like he didn't believe any natural resources (farm land, minerals, etc.) should be privately owned. Also seems like he thought technology did more harm than good. But he was OK with Europeans colonizing the lands of the Native Americans?

Thanks for your comment, John. You know, I can't ansswer your question with authority regarding Native Americans because I haven't looked deeply into Devyr beyond what I've posted. Most agrarian reformers, however, advocated treating the Native Americans justly and humanely. I think that it is also; important to note that First People's did not themselves have any general belief in private or personal land as property. Most believed that the earth does not belong to man, but that man belongs to the earth. So was there a clash of civilizations ? Oh yes indeed. But again, most of the equal rights and agrarian reformers of the period believed that Native Americans were human and ought to be treated justly and as fellow citizens.
