Spot on, Ken! Thanks for posting this. It's sad to realize that Kennedy's uncle, President John F. Kennedy, had the raw courage to stand against the Jewish state of Israel by demanding inspections of Israel's nuclear program and by demanding that the Israel lobby be registered as a foreign agent. He was the last president to do those things. In my opinion, he was our last true president. Too bad RFK, Jr. doesn't have the courage to do the same.

Bob, it means the world to me to read your comment ... and on more than one level. THANKS to you for the reminder of JFK's positions vis-a-vis Israel. I hope others won't miss them. At the same time, the memory put an unpleasant feeling in my gut. It is no accident of history that so many of America's greatest leaders have been assassinated.

Well, Ken, I am only just beginning to take a look at Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and what he believes, stands for and would pursue should he somehow gain the Democratic party nomination and end up victorious over whoever the Republicans offer voters. Our political system is, in my estimation, on the verge of implosion due to the absolute subservience to money and vested interests. My solution is far too radical for consideration, I suspect. Replace election of legislators with selection by lottery of those who pass a fairly rigorous course in civics and indicate a willingness to serve.

Thanks for your comment, Ed. I agree wholeheartedly on your diagnosis of the social illness. And I agree that your solution has zero chance of realization. One of the reasons this page is titled "21st Century Restoration" is the sense that we need a restoration of good old, small "r" republican practices ... many of which we have dropped or discarded. For example, I don't believe it is even POSSIBLE to have a republic without universal secular and civic, compulsory public education. For my money, we could start with that and it would alleviate a GREAT many social and political ills. At this stage of the game, though, I think the prospect is almost as remote as yours.
