Joe Biden and the SOTU

We are no friend of Joe Biden, neither now … nor in the ANY of the 52 years we have followed him closely. Never liked him. Never admired him. Biden never saw a war he didn’t like. He wrote and BRAGS about the infamous 1994 Crime Bill that locked up half the country. He opposes single-payer health. He voted for NAFTA, CAFTA, and all the SHAFTYAs. He voted for Iraq War, the Patriot Act, and he voted to repeal Glass-Steagall. Joe Biden is distinguished by being on the wrong side of literally every single major issue of our lifetime. And he’s a bit of a creepy old hair-sniffer.

But an honest and cold-eyed score sheet on the State of the Union speech must surely acknowledge that he did a ship’s captain of a job. It was an old-fashioned barn-burner. He is clearly in his element in the chamber. To evaluate his speech otherwise seems therefore to us dishonest, sour grapes, delusional, or a combination thereof.

Will it make a difference on the “election cycle?” Possibly, if he manages to deliver something to measurably benefit a significant number of voters. But it is a long time to November. If the Dems fumble the ball — and the gods all know they are deft fumblers — the speech will be long forgotten. So liberals, don’t get too giddy or twitterpated.

To Republicans and The Base: what the hell is with the goofy trad-wife whiner ? Who’s idea was this ? Who told Karen she can act ?
