This historian’s lament seems in this case to have a sort of exclusive prescience, a foreknowledge unavailable to any other of the species homo sapien.
What a burden; borne with tenacious grit and perseverence.
I don't know that the author intended it "exclusively" rather than personally and in direct reference to her experience as an historian. History taken seriously and systematically is a discipline ... when approached from a documentary or factual basis, occasionally a science. Practiced honestly, is a sovereign cure for Illusion. Thanks as always for your thoughts.
